Angola remains a challenging destination for birders due to the poor state of the infrastructure as a result of the protracted civil war which ravaged the country for almost 27 years. That said, the country has recognised the potential in tourism and is working to get at least the major roads back into serviceable condition.
Because of the diversity of biomes and ecosystems, Angola boasts a rich avifauna with around 920 species of which approximately 800 are assumed to breed in the country. 16 endemic species occur and the search for these normally forms the basis for our Angolan itineraries.
